The nootropics industry is expanding incredibly quickly, but unfortunately this means that it is growing faster than the research into the compounds used in these products. What we end up seeing is products that contain some ingredients supported by clinical research, mixed with others that have never been studied, to see whether or not they have any nootropic benefits.

Below we take an in-depth look at EvoMuse Clear Edge to see what benefits this nootropic supplement offers.

EvoMuse Clear Edge Pros

  • Some ingredients appear to be effective
  • 60 day supply per bottle

EvoMuse Clear Edge Cons

What You Need To Know About EvoMuse Clear Edge

EvoMuse Clear Edge is a nootropic supplement manufactured by EvoMuse, also known as Evolutionary Muse. There are no customer reviews available for this supplement, and it is not covered by a money back guarantee. The product is designed to benefit memory, focus, and learning.

What Are The Side Effects Of EvoMuse Clear Edge?

Some of the ingredients found in EvoMuse Clear Edge can potentially cause a range of side effects.

L-Carnitine can cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, heartburn, diarrhoea, and seizures. It can also cause the urine, breath, and sweat to have a “fishy” odour.

Studies have shown that Bacopa leaf causes upset stomachs in participants much more than placebos. This has led to the recommendation that this ingredient be taken with a meal, rather than on an empty stomach, as this will minimize the chances of getting an upset stomach. It may also may cause nausea, cramping, bloating, and diarrhoea.

Huperzine A can cause some side effects such as nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, sweating, blurred vision, slurred speech, restlessness, loss of appetite, contraction and twitching of muscle fibres, cramping, increased saliva and urine, inability to control urination, high blood pressure, and slowed heart rate.

How Much Does EvoMuse Clear Edge Cost?

A bottle of EvoMuse Clear Edge containing 240 capsules costs $51.99 when purchased from the official Evolutionary Muse website. Delivery charges may also apply. Whilst this may seem expensive, a bottle provides 60 servings of four capsules, and so will last for two months of use, making it actually pretty good value for money.

Having said that, the prices of EvoMuse Clear Edge vary hugely when purchased from third party retailers. EvoMuse Clear Edge is also available from numerous third party distributers. Nutra Planet sell a bottle for $49.99 plus delivery charges, but were out of stock at the time of writing this review. Mind and Muscle sell a single bottle for $99.99 plus delivery charges. Predator Nutrition, a UK retailer, sell a single bottle for £57.98, plus delivery charges.

Our Verdict On EvoMuse Clear Edge

We have a mixed opinion of EvoMuse Clear Edge. Whilst some of the active ingredients have clinical support, others are used despite having never been researched for cognitive benefits in humans. L-Pryoglutamic Acid, for example, is sometimes advertised as a memory boosting supplement, but it has never been studied in humans and there are no known benefits to taking it.

The product is not suitable for vegetarians thanks to the use of Bombyx Mori, more commonly known as silkworms.

EvoMuse Clear Edge is not covered by a money back guarantee. It does pay to shop around before purchasing EvoMuse Clear Edge, as the price can vary hugely. A single bottle provides 60 servings, a two month supply, and can be purchased at a reasonable price per serving (when avoiding certain retailers).

Overall, we do not recommend EvoMuse Clear Edge to our readers.

Does EvoMuse Clear Edge Work?

Bacopa Monnieri reduces anxiety and improves memory, and tyrosine could help to reduce fatigue. Huperzine A appears to improve cognition in general, whilst Choline could improve memory and cognitive function, depending upon the doses used.

What Are The Ingredients of EvoMuse Clear Edge?

The ingredients found in EvoMuse Clear Edge are detailed below. The ingredient quantities listed are per serving of four capsules.

  • Nelumbo Nucifera Extract 20:1 255mg: Nelumbo Nucifera is a type of Lotus; preliminary studies in vitro and in rats have suggested that extracts from this plant can reduce fat mass in rats that are fed a high fat diet. The research, published in February 2014, concluded that ‘we suggest that lotus seed has a potential to be developed as an effective agent against obesity-related diseases’. Its effects in humans are unknown at this time. Source
  • Acetyl-L-Carnitine 500mg: There is some evidence that supplementation of acetyl-l-carnitine can reduce body fat, although the strongest results were seen in the elderly. The ingredient also boosts energy levels, and is used to treat fatigue. Source
  • Bacopa Monnieri (std for 55% bacosides) 150mg: Used to reduce anxiety, improve memory, and seems to have a minor ability to treat depression, making it a general mild mood booster. Doses are typically larger than used in this diet pill, and effects can take time to achieve a noticeable level, as the effects appear to accumulate with repeated use. Source
  • Huperzine 1% 10mg: Huperzine-A is found in a plant called Huperzia serrata. Huperzine-A is thought to be a cognitive enhancer. Because of the relatively long half-life of this compound, its use should be cycled, with breaks in usage every few weeks. Source
  • CDP-Choline 400mg: Choline supplementation appears to improve attention, and could improve memory, although the dose was much higher than appears to be used here, and the relevant study focused upon the elderly. Choline is required to make increased levels of acetylcholine in the brain. Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter which is linked with improved learning, memory retention and recall. Source
  • Ginkgo Biloba Extract 200mg: Appears to improve circulation, and may help to kill bacteria in the body that could cause infections, although it is used as an herbal remedy to treat a range of ailments. Source
  • L-Pyroglutamic Acid 400mg: Pyroglutamic acid is an amino acid. Not a whole lot is known about pyroglutamic acid alone, as there are no published studies showing any benefit for pyroglutamic acid. When it is used in supplements, it is sometimes associated with improved memory and focus, despite the lack of clinical support to confirm this. Source
  • L-Dopa 100mg: L-Dopa can affect the levels of dopamine in the brain, and has been used to treat Parkinsons Disease. However, most L-dopa is broken down in the body before it can reach the brain. The doses used to treat Parkinson’s and other ailments are huge, often using 5 grams or more per day. Source
  • Bombyx Mori Extract (std for BF7) 150mg: Bombyx Mori is the Latin name for Silkworm. One study found that BF7 extracted from Bombyx Mori improved attention and “cognitive flexibility” in children when compared with a placebo. Source
  • Grape Stem/Skin Extract 20:1 75mg: It is unclear what extract is used here. It might be resveratrol, an antioxidant. Resveratrol is a type of polyphenol which is found naturally in the skin of red grapes, as well as some other plant sources. Resveratrol has been found to help prevent insulin resistance, and so indirectly could have implications for weight loss in some patients. However, as yet this has not been confirmed conclusively through clinical trials. It is thought that antioxidants in general promote general health and wellness. Source
  • Benfotiamine 200mg: Closely related to Thiamine (vitamin B1).
  • Sulbutiamine 200mg: A synthetic molecule that consists of two thiamine molecules bound together chemically. It is thought that Sulbutiamine can treat fatigue, although evidence is still preliminary. Source
  • Isatin 50mg
