The Genius Brand is a US-based supplements company, selling a wide range of supplements to do with health, beauty, and bodybuilding. There are also a few nootropic supplements, but this company is not the nootropic specialist that the company name suggests. Genius Brand supplements are mainly on sale via Amazon.
Genius Caffeine is a caffeine supplement that some people take for enhanced energy although primarily it is actually marketed as a weight loss supplement. It contains microencapsulated caffeine which means that it is released slowly in the body providing effects for far longer than other caffeine supplements or by simply drinking coffee.
It is not very strong at only 100mg a serving (roughly the equivalent of 1 cup of coffee) so unless you are extremely sensitive to caffeine, you may not notice.
That said, taking the maximum recommended dose of a whopping 6 capsules a day will certainly cause adverse effects in most people and exceeds the recommended safety limit of caffeine consumption which is set at 400mg a day.
Customers have mentioned side effects including increased tiredness, fatigue, and sleepiness. It has also caused headaches, vomiting/nausea, light-headedness, mild panic, itchiness, and hives in some users.
Other potential side effects may include increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, and insomnia.
Genius Caffeine is quite expensive compared to some caffeine tablets on the market. It costs $14.99 for a tub of 100 caplets. If you used at the maximum serving of 6 caplets a day this would be sufficient for just over 16 days’ servings. However, most people will only use occasionally so this is not too bad a deal.
You can buy via the official Genius Brand website or from Amazon.
Genius Caffeine is advertised as a nootropic supplement with weight loss benefits but in truth, we can’t see it living up to either claim.
Genius Caffeine contains a branded ingredient called NewCaff as the sole ingredient. This is a micro-capsulated form of caffeine that enters the body slowly and lasts for around 4 hours. This sounds good but the clinical evidence is solely based on lab research rather than human clinical trials, and although the encapsulated caffeine will probably dissolve over time as claimed, will it really make much difference to the average user? After all most of us are accustomed to drinking caffeine in coffee and energy drinks, so we can’t see this making much difference over the course of the day.
In fairness, the company behind NewCaff, market the product as a sports supplement to provide increased energy to athletes, rather than the weight loss supplement and nootropic as claimed by the Genius advertising. In our opinion, it is not going to be very effective for either of these purposes. A conventional cup of coffee, energy drink, or ordinary caffeine pill is far more likely to revive you when you need it and will not hang around in your system hours later.
Overall, we can’t really the see the point of it so we do not recommend Genius Caffeine to the Watchdog readers.

What can you say about a caffeine pill? These have been around for decades and many of us have taken them occasionally, as teenagers for an illicit buzz, for late night energy, or in an attempt to keep awake when we would rather be asleep, such as while working, driving, or studying.
Genius Caffeine contains just one ingredient; a branded caffeine supplement called NewCaff. This is manufactured in Spain by a company called Lipofoods, and is available only to the supplements industry.
NewCaff contains microencapsulated caffeine which means that the caffeine is packed into tiny grain-sized capsules. Doing this masks the bitter taste, but more importantly, causes a delayed release in the body once the capsules dissolve. According to the product information, this provides a sustained energy release which is ideal for high-intensity exercise.
Genius Caffeine contains only NewCaff, but strangely does not mention this aspect of the product being suitable for high-intensity exercise or training.
Instead, Genius Caffeine is marketed as a weight loss product that helps you burn off additional calories and fat, suppresses the appetite, and improves muscle endurance. It is also touted as a nootropic supplement bringing increased mental energy and alertness. It is important to point out here that none of these claims are mentioned by Lipofoods who actually make the supplement.
The Genius Caffeine advertising advises that you can stack this supplement with another Genius weight loss supplement called Genius Burn. We covered Genius Burn in a previous review for our sister site Diet Pills Watchdog.
Despite all these fat burning and weight loss claims, most people take Genius Caffeine for the mental effects. Like all caffeine pills, the idea is that it will wake you up, increase your alertness and concentration, and keep you awake.
You could of course just drink coffee, but this will not suit people who don’t like coffee or cannot get access to coffee. In addition, caffeine pills are notorious for abuse, where the user simply takes far too many at one time, exceeding the safe dose. Do this and side effects can be a problem, turning enhanced energy into strung out, jittery, and unable to sleep.
If you take the maximum recommended daily serving of 6 capsules you will probably experience these side effects.
The Genius Brand is an online supplements company based in America although there is no physical address provided. This company claims to have been founded on the principles of the “betterment of humanity” and with a “total disregard for profit,” and if you do really believe that, you will probably believe anything!
We have covered a couple of their nootropic supplements in previous reviews including Genius Joy, Genius Consciousness, and Genius Mushrooms.
According to the product advertising, Genius Caffeine is a “new generation of caffeine”
It will suit you whether you are trying to improve mental functioning, and it will help you lose weight as well! The key claims are as follows:
SMART CAFFEINE: GENIUS CAFFEINE IS DIFFERENT THAN EVERY OTHER CAFFEINE PILL ON THE MARKET BECAUSE IT’S SUSTAINED RELEASED, ULTRA PURE TRADEMARKED VERSION (NEWCAFF)
TRUE SUSTAINED ENERGY; NORMAL CAFFEINE IS QUICKLY ABSORBED LEADING TO A STIMULATING EFFECT AFTER CONSUMPTION WHICH LEADS TO ENERGY FLUCTUATIONS. THROUGH A CONTROLLED RELEASE, MICROENCAPSULATION TECHNIQUE, GENIUS CAFFEINE PROVIDES TRUE SUSTAINED ENERGY. INCREASED METABOLISM – FAT LOSS
BURN MORE CALORIES & SUPPORT WEIGHT LOSS – CAFFEINE STIMULATES THERMOGENESIS, ACCELERATING THE RATE AT WHICH YOUR BODY BURNS CALORIES. IT ALSO HELPS TO SUPPRESS THE APPETITE FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME
ALL-NATURAL FORMULA WITH NO JUNK …IT CAN INCREASE MUSCLE PERFORMANCE, ENDURANCE AND BLOOD FLOW WITHOUT THE USE OF STIIMULANTS.
First up, this supplement is not going to cause you to lose weight or increase muscle performance and blood flow, and although the advertising claims that this is all without the use of stimulants… what do they think caffeine is? It is a stimulant of course. That’s why it is so popular worldwide. It is the world’s favourite stimulant.
Caffeine can be useful for weight loss but only up to a point. It does increase the speed of the metabolism enabling more calories to be burnt off, but the effects quickly wear off once you become accustomed to using it.
Of course, this supplement contains NewCaff, a branded caffeine supplement with that delayed release function. So you may find that it does cause you to experience increased energy for longer than by simply drinking a coffee. You may find that it perks you up and provides a longer lasting energy enhancing effect as claimed.
However, the clinical testing is not that impressive. NewCaff has been clinically tested to determine the disintegration time of the microcapsules, in order to assess how long the caffeine effects will last but it has not been tested on humans.
Instead, testing was carried out in vitro in the lab, where NewCaff was placed in a solution that reflected digestive conditions. The conclusion was that the caffeine should last for 4 hours after ingestion. Whether or not this means that a noticeable stimulant effect will also last for 4 hours was not specified.
Serving size is equal to one capsule.
Many customers have mentioned side effects. Bizarrely, many people complain that Genius Caffeine causes fatigue and sleepiness. There are too many people saying this, to make this a one-off reaction, and we confess we have no idea why Genius Caffeine should have this effect!
Other reported side effects are more predictable and include,
Other potential side effects of caffeine can include,
Caution:
Not suitable for individuals under 18. Avoid if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Speak to your doctor first if you have an underlying medical condition or are taking prescription medication.
There are over 1000 customer reviews for Genius Caffeine on Amazon. Many are positive but according to scam software, there is a high percentage of fake reviews and a high amount of deception going on. Amazon has already deleted and scrubbed at least 128 reviews. That said there are genuine positive feedback comments too, such as these,
When I need a clear head and don’t want to be buzzing, Genius Caffeine is just about perfect. I don’t use it every day, but on days when i need a bit of a boost, it’s right there for me….
Genius caffeine gave me a lot of energy without feeling speedy
I absolutely love these caffeine pills! They give you that boost of energy you need, without the jitters and crash that happens with other caffeine supplements. I have an 8 month old, and I need all the help i can get to stay awake, and this does that beautifully!
Not everyone is as satisfied,
Sure was hoping it would help, saw no difference at all…………so aggravated spending $$$$$ on things that don’t live up to expectation. Try them tho, they might work for you, but not me.
Some customers have mentioned headaches,
HORRIBLE headaches. First week I had to miss work twice, I stopped taking it after 5 days. Not meant for everyone I guess.
Some customers have mentioned increased tiredness,
Not sure what’s going on or if it’s the timed release but these PUT ME TO SLEEP. I have taken so many naps after taking these. I have even waited an hour and it seemed that I was becoming more and more tired to the point that I could not keep my eyes open
Not really. There is nothing about a guarantee in the terms and conditions despite the claim that states, “ALL PURCHASES 100% BACKED BY THE GENIUS PROMISE!”
The advertising states,
If you are not completely satisfied with your Genius purchase for any reason, you are able to return it for a refund or exchange within 30 days from ship date. Your satisfaction is and will always be our highest priority.
It is unknown whether this applies to opened or partially used product.
You can buy Genius Caffeine via the official Genius Brand website. Alternatively it is on sale via Amazon – the company’s principle marketplace.

I have been using Genius Caffeine for over a year, and it’s great. I have CFS, and this is one of the things I take to make me function. I have tried a number of different caffeine pills, and this is the best. The stated concern on nootropicwatchdog.com that taking 600mg a day is bad is not relevant. One should not take that much of any kind of caffeine supplement.
