Lion’s Mane Mushroom can cause mild stomach discomfort, and could lower blood sugar levels.

If you suffer from an autoimmune disease do not use Reishi (Ganoderma Lucidum); increasing the potency of your immune system is a bad idea if your immune system is attacking you. Do not use Reishi if on immunosuppressant therapy in accordance with an autoimmune disease, it is possible Reishi could negate or hinder the immunosuppressant therapy.

Our Verdict On Genius Mushrooms

Overall, we have a mixed view of Genius Mushrooms. The product is definitely interesting, and the three types of mushroom used in the formula have all been the subject of a range of clinical trials. However, many of these trials are very preliminary, and more research needs to be done before we can conclusively state just how beneficial these mushrooms really are. The ingredient quantities used in this supplement are much smaller than those used in clinical trials, suggesting that the product’s benefits are likely to be limited.

The product is not covered by a money-back guarantee. There are some restrictions regarding who should not take this supplement; if you are unsure about the suitability of this supplement for you, please consult a doctor before ordering this product.

There are lots of positive reviews of the product, but according to review-checking website FakeSpot many of the customer reviews are fake or at least suspicious. Out of the negative reviews, some customers experienced some side effects, whilst others noticed few or no benefits whilst taking the supplement.

Overall, we do not recommend Genius Mushrooms to our readers.

Does Genius Mushrooms Work?

The list of benefits that Genius Mushrooms is supposed to confer is extensive; whilst the benefits listed all have a small amount of clinical support behind them, the research is far from conclusive or exhaustive.

Lion’s Mane Mushrooms have been linked with improved cognitive performance in just one study that focused upon consumers with Dementia, meaning that clinical support for use of this ingredient as a nootropic is incredibly limited. Participants in the clinical trial also took six times the amount of Lion’s Mane than that found in a daily serving of Genius Mushrooms, suggesting that this supplement’s cognitive boosting abilities are limited at best.

Cordyceps Sinensis appears to improve the body’s utilisation of oxygen, which could help the consumer to feel more focused, more awake, and more energetic. There are numerous studies that suggest that it could help both brain function and physical performance during exercise. Studies in mice suggest that it could help to improve learning memory. Again, the quantity used in Genius Mushrooms is significantly less than the amounts used in many clinical trials.

Reishi supplementation could theoretically help to boost the body’s immune system.

Some of the listed benefits have only been tenuously linked with the three mushrooms in this supplement. Considering this and the relatively low ingredient quantities compared with those used in clinical trials, it is possible that the supplement offer some or all of the benefits listed above, but the effects could be mild.

What Are The Ingredients of Genius Mushrooms?

The ingredients found in Genius Mushrooms are detailed below. The ingredient quantities listed are per serving of three veggie capsules.

  • Cordyceps Sinensis [Mycelium] [Standardised to 7% Cordycepic Acid] 500mg: This ingredient is a parasitic fungus that grows on caterpillar larvae in some regions of India. It has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years. There is limited evidence linking this ingredient with improved athletic performance and endurance. It may also boost the immune system, improve cognition, and act as a mood enhancer. It appears to work by improving the body’s utilisation of oxygen, which could help the consumer to feel more focused, more awake, and more energetic. Source
  • Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) [Fruit Body] Powder 500 mg: Reishi supplementation could help to activate Natural Killer Cells present in the body, which could help to boost the immune system. Studies also highlight that participants taking Reishi in studies report slight improvements in their subjective wellbeing (whilst being studied for other benefits). The mechanisms behind this are unknown, and it could be that the participants felt better overall because Reishi reduced other symptoms. Source
  • Lion’s Mane (Hericium erinaceus) [Fruit Body] Powder 500 mg: Also known as Yamabushitake, this ingredient is a mushroom. It has only been studied once in humans when looking specifically at cognitive decline; the study found that taking 3 grams per day caused significant improvements on a rating scale of dementia in persons suffering from general cognitive decline. It has never been studied in cognitively healthy humans. Source

Does Genius Mushrooms Have Any Side Effects?

The three active ingredients found in Genius Mushroom could all potentially cause a range of side effects.

The safety and side effects of Cordyceps Sinensis have not been well researched in human studies. Reported side effects from Cordyceps Sinensis supplements include nausea, diarrhoea, dry mouth, and mild stomach upset.

Caution:

Not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Not suitable for anyone under the age of 18. Not suitable for anyone who has an autoimmune disease, or if you are on immunosuppressant therapy. Diabetics should consult their doctor before purchase, as Lion’s Mane Mushroom can lower blood sugar levels.

Are There Any Customer Reviews For Genius Mushrooms?

There are lots of customer reviews for Genius Mushrooms on Amazon, where the product is sold.

Just made me feel like a drank a little too much coffee – but not in a good way.

I don’t get the hype. No big change for me. I felt a little stimulus initially, like a cup of coffee. I’m healthy, height proportional to weight, a runner. Used daily for a month.

I never feel well after taking these with my other supplements! I feel zero benefits from these! Maybe it’s the combination but I won’t be buying again! Not worth it!

I have 45 pills left of my first order and so far I do not really notice any real difference. I feel pretty much the same, my memory seems the same and I do not think I am learning/retaining new information any better than I usually do. It may be too soon to tell though. I am not sure how long it takes to build up in your system before you see results. I will try to update my review when i have finished the bottle. I’m wondering if the wonderful reviews were inspired by the placebo or even bandwagon effect. However, there are lots of studies showing these shrooms are good for ya in lots of different ways so I think they are still worth taking as a vitamin. Hopefully towards the end of this first bottle I will notice some positive benefits! I bought these on lightening special for 29.99, I wouldn’t pay anymore than that to buy them again.

Took the whole bottle havent really noticed much. Maybe a few enhanced cognitive benefits. I caught a cold while taking so for me personally it didnt help my immunity.

Pros: I feel great and I’m very alert. Learning made easier…
Cons: Two days into uses I started to have the sensation that I needed to urinate all the time. My concern was maybe an unrelated infection so I evaluated all of the changes in habits and this product was all I could come up with. I discontinued use and the sensation went away.
Everyone is different so it may affect you differently. This is not an attack on the product, simply my reaction to it.

One month since I use Genius Mushroom product and I should admit it is amazing! Not only I am more energetic, more focused but I feel like a got stronger both mentally and physically. Normally I would catch a cold when kids are sick, last two months all kids were sick one by one with horrible flu going on around and I somehow managed to “skip” on sickness. I strongly believe daily intake of mushroom supplements has to do with it as mushrooms indeed are an immune booster. As I am the only person who loves mushrooms in the family, I do not cook it often. With this being said having this mushroom supplement makes my life fulfilled and supports my immune system! Definitely a keeper!

Using this have given me a headache and pressure in my ears. I’ve taken other brands or reishi before and never had this issue… anyone else having this problem? UPDATE- Taking with food and water helps, I think it may have been that my body wasn’t used to the cordyceps.

Felt like I was getting sick when I first started taking these and have immediately bounced back. I have used other genius products before and liked them so I figured I’d take these as a flyer. Day 1 validated them as an effective immune system booster, these + a goodnight sleep helped me avoid the cold. That’s a #win.

I’ve also noticed a sense of mental clarity since I started taking them. It’s a really nice feeling, I’m a lot less stressed and anxious. I’m very clear headed. I’ve read about the benefits of the lions mane mushroom before in the past but this is my first time using it and the benefits are very noticeable. It’s worth the $30 bucks for this product!
