Below we take an in-depth look at Higher Nature Brain Nutrients, to see if it can support concentration, memory, and learning into old age.
Higher Nature Brain Nutrients is a nootropic supplement that is designed to help “support concentration, memory and learning into old age”. The product comes in three different bottle sizes, the smallest of which is covered by a money back guarantee on your first purchase. However, in general the manufacturer’s returns policy is quite restricted.
Some of the ingredients found in Higher Nature Brain Nutrients could potentially cause a range of side effects.
L-carnitine is generally thought to be safe for use, although it can occasionally cause stomach problems, vomiting, heartburn, diarrhoea, seizures, and a fishy odour from the urine, sweat, and breath. The dosage used here is relatively low, and so less likely to cause side effects.
Arginine can cause a range of side effects including abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhoea, gout, blood abnormalities, allergies, airway inflammation, worsening of asthma, and low blood pressure.
Side effects of Phosphatidylserine can include insomnia and stomach upset. It can be made from either plant or animal sources, and so may not be suitable for vegetarians.
Higher Nature Brain Nutrients is sold through the official Higher Nature website. There are several different sized bottles available. The smallest bottle contains 30 capsules and costs £11.05. It is this sized bottle that is covered by the money back guarantee for first time buyers.
There is also a bottle containing 90 capsules which costs £29.35, and a bottle containing 180 capsules which costs £57.85. Delivery charges may apply.
Consumers are instructed to take two to four capsules per day, as needed; the smallest bottle will last for anywhere between a week and 15 days, whilst the largest bottle containing 180 capsules will last for anywhere between 45 and 90 days of use.
We have a mixed opinion of Higher Nature Brain Nutrients. The manufacturer makes realistic claims about the potential benefits of taking the supplement, which obviously gives potential customers a more accurate idea of what to expect from the supplement.
Some of the ingredients in Higher Nature Brain Nutrients could support cognitive function and memory. However, many of the ingredient quantities are quite small, or even too small to have a noticeable effect. On the other hand, the quantities of vitamins and minerals found in the supplement appears to be much higher than the daily recommended servings of these vitamins. This can cause a range of side effects; this supplement should not be combined with other multivitamin supplements that contain the same vitamins.
The manufacturers do not offer a money back guarantee in the majority of cases. When ordering the smallest size of a supplement for the first time, there is a money back guarantee on the product, and the company will accept opened products in this scenario.
Overall, we do not recommend Higher Nature Brain Nutrients to our readers.

Higher Nature Brain Nutrients is a nootropic supplement designed to “optimise the function of the brain, for healthy concentration, memory and learning”. It contains numerous vitamins and minerals as well, including vitamins B3 and B12, and Folic Acid.
Brain Nutrients is manufactured by Higher Nature, a UK-based company whose head office is in East Sussex. The company can be contacted using the information provided on their official website.
Directions for use are as follows: Take 2 capsules once or twice a day, with meals.
The manufacturers provide the following description of the product’s benefits:
Provides key vitamins, phospholipids, and amino acids to optimise the function of the brain, for healthy concentration, memory, and learning. Choline is essential for normal brain and nervous system development and function. It is a building block for the brain messenger acetylcholine, and helps maintain memory and support cognitive function. It is a vital part of nerve cells and supports normal nerve impulse transmission. Phosphatidyl Serine supports memory and brain performance.
Choline is used by the body to make acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter linked with learning, memory retention, and recall, and so theoretically supplementing it could help with memory.
Phosphatidylserine may reduce the risk of cognitive dysfunction and dementia in the elderly, but the dosage used here is small; the daily recommended dosage is as much as 300 mg, divided into several smaller doses; a minimum of 100 mg is recommended to notice benefits, but this supplement contains just 30 mg per serving.
Overall, this supplement seems unlikely to significantly improve cognition, but it may have a small benefit.

October 2012
I was given anti-depressives for a long time, to help me cope with chronic pain. I decided that I no longer wished to take them and slowly came off the drug. To my horror I found that I now had attacks of anger! This was so shocking as I am normally a calm, easy going person. I battled for months with this and then decided to try these nutrients in the hope of getting my brain to function normally again. I added a Omega 3 Fish oil supplement. There was a definite improvement. For some reason, which I cannot now recall, I decided to try the Omega 3:6:9 by Higher Nature instead of the fish oil supplement I was using, and there was a huge difference. In fact, the moods and anger vanished!! I have tried to come off these supplements at various times, but the anger returns. I am just so relieved to be myself again that I happily continue to take the supplements. I hope this will help anyone else who has this problem. I take 2 brain nutrients and 4 omegas capsules daily.Update: March 2013
I have found that I have now been able to come off these nutrients and my brain appears to be functioning, as it should! I am so happy I tried these nutrients, even though I had to take them for quite a few months, it was certainly worth it. I have resumed taking Omega 3 fish oil, as part of my daily supplements (I take multi vit and minerals), as it is good for heart health.
