We take an in depth look at Alpha GPC to find out more.
We are very unimpressed with Nootropics Alpha GPC. There is very little product information such as ingredient quantities or recommended serving size and this leaves the customer totally in the dark when it comes to this supplement.
In addition a prominent disclaimer on the website states that this supplement is strictly not for human consumption. Off putting to say the least!
That said there is a buzz around alpha GPC the ingredient. People are taking alpha GPC as a choline supplement in order to boost mental performance and although it does require further scientific investigation, it does look extremely promising.
Very little information is available on the manufacturers website but our research suggests that temporary side effects may be possible with the ingredients in this product.
This nootropic supplement can be only bought directly from the official UK website where 1 x 50g bag costs £44.99 and 1 x 100g bag costs £74.99.
However we would not recommend that you try this particular brand. There is just no information about it and without any customer feedback it seems that other people feel the same. If anyone has tried this supplement, nobody is speaking about it.
It is an easy decision. We reject Nootropics Alpha GPC.

Alpha GPC is a supplement in powder form that you presumably add to water in order to make a brain boosting drink.
We say “presumably” because in truth there is very little real information about this supplement such as how to take it and when. This does not help the customer especially if you are new to the world of nootropics as most people are.
Alpha GPC or Alpha-glycerylphosphorylcholine to give it the full name is a naturally derived chemical. It is a natural choline which is found in the brain and it is also obtainable from plant sources most usually soya and it is present in breast milk too. Alpha GPC is released during the breakdown of fatty acids in plants and it has been investigated for many clinical purposes.
Alpha GPC delivers choline to the brain. It is a precursor of the vital neuro transmitter acetylcholine and is a form of bioavailable choline that crosses the blood brain barrier.
The Blood Brain Barrier (BBB) is a semi permeable barrier around the brain which allows some substances to enter, and is crucial in protecting the brain from foreign substances in the blood. The BBB protects against the hormones and neuro transmitters in the rest of the body and keeps the brain in a stable and consistent environment.
Chemicals such as choline are the precursor to the vital brain neuro transmitter acetyl choline and so taking supplements of Alpha GPC can boost acetylcholine, and therefore memory, focus and learning. Alpha GPC has been clinically tested and appears to help improve mental performance in people suffering from strokes, dementia and other cognitive difficulties.
The company behind this supplement have neglected to explain how and when you should take this supplement. Worryingly a disclaimer placed on the website states that this supplement is not fit for human consumption.
“Disclaimer: All products sold by nootropics.co.uk are for research purposes only. They are strictly not for human consumption or for any form of in-vivo research or experimentation….”
Alpha GPC comes from British company Nootropics.co.uk who are based in Oxford. The return address is as follows.
Nootropics.co.uk, Unit 262, 266 Banbury Road, Oxford, OX2 7DL.
However the registered owner of the business is based in London and is named as: Syed Turab Hasan Raza. He seems to use several different “registered addresses” and lists his occupation as Wealth Management.
The official Nootropics website looks safe to use. The company do not seem to be associated with any scams and surprisingly has been in operation for the past 12 years.
That said there is practically zero information about the various supplements on offer. The country of manufacture is not disclosed although a certificate on show on the website seems to suggest it was manufactured in the USA. Importantly the ingredient quantities per serving size are not provided.
There are numerous nootropic supplements on sale from the website.
All products come in powder form and include various types of brain supplements such as Racetams, Eugaroics and Cholinergics.
None of the supplements are fully explained. We had a search round for further information and we did locate a practically identical looking Alpha GPC supplement right down to the packaging from another British company called Smart Nootropics. There could be confusion between these two companies with similar names and practically identical packaging but there is no connection between the two.
The product information explains the role of acetylcholine:
Acetylcholine is vital for memory and acts as an important neuromodulator. Acetylcholine has been shown as an essential neurotransmitter involved in the enhancement of sensory perception when we wake up, and while sustaining attention.
The uses of Alpha GPC are explained:
Studies have found that Alpha-GPC has a therapeutic benefit to those suffering from cognitive difficulties following stroke and Alzheimer’s disease. After easily crossing the blood brain barrier Alpha-GPC has been shown to act as a parasympathomimetic acetylcholine precursor.
Although all this sounds good the disclaimer on the website brings these claims into uncertainty. As well as stating that supplements are strictly NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION, the disclaimer continues that:
It is the responsibility of the user to ensure that they have checked the terms & conditions before using any services and products displayed on this website.
All content is for informational purposes only. All articles on this website are for entertainment purposes only. This website is strictly for the purpose of providing opinions of the author…
None of this is making us feel very safe as customers.
It is impossible to know whether this alpha GPC supplement will work or not. Or in fact just what it will do because there is very little product information about it.
Lots of people however are looking to alpha GPC as a nootropic supplement. This ingredient looks very promising for enhancing mental performance, memory and ability and studies have shown that increasing choline intake can be beneficial to brain health.
In addition this ingredient is easily absorbed and can cross the blood brain barrier.
However, alpha GPC does require further scientific investigation and there is very little information about the optimum serving size, recommended daily serving and more.
With the total lack of product information about Nootropics.co.uk Alpha GPC, we would advise you to look elsewhere should you wish to try this ingredient.
Alpha GPC is a supplement in powder form that contains this one active ingredient in unknown quantities. We are not provided with an optimum serving size. We have zero information about whether there are additional ingredients in the powder or whether you should add it to liquid before taking.
The product information does not provide any notice of side effects. However potential side effects may include:
Not suitable for individuals under 18. Avoid if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Speak to your doctor first if you have any sort of underlying health condition (including mental health) or are taking prescription medication.
There are no customer reviews for Nootropics.co.uk Alpha GPC. This does not look like a popular product or even a popular brand.
There is online discussion elsewhere about the benefits and side effects of the ingredient alpha GPC. Some people feel that it improves thinking and mental alertness. Others have suffered from side effects and a few people have complained about feeling sleepy.
This lack of customer comment about Nootropics.co.uk Alpha GPC is a serious problem. After all, without knowing the serving size, and given the lack of information about alpha GPC generally, customer reviews would have been the only real clues about the experiences of taking this supplement.
