We light up the evidence and wait to find out if this really is the flower power.
Nutrovape Relax is an e-cigarette/vape stick, said to help you to relax by inhaling a few puffs whenever you feel anxious. The ingredients are made into essential oils and heated in the e-cigarette to the correct temperature and then inhaled. Although the manufacturers claim that you will feel instantly feel calmer and anxiety will be reduced, there is no real evidence for it. That said some customers seem to enjoy the experience. There do seem to be some technical problems with the vape stick which is often not as long lasting as claimed.
Generally, the side effects of these ingredients are considered safe although you may experience some drowsiness.
When valerian is taken at higher doses of 450mg three times a day, drowsiness may occur. This is known as the ‘hangover’ effect but does not tend to occur with a single 450mg of the supplement taken before sleep.
Without ingredients information and the fact that the ingredients are vaped rather than ingested, we have no way of knowing if this will occur with the vape stick.
You can buy Nutrovape Relax from the Nutrovape website and a single pack (1 vaping stick) costs $9.99 (£7.11 for UK customers).
A pack of 3 costs $25.99 (£18.45) and a 6 pack costs $49.99 (£35.50), giving you 6 Nutrovape sticks for the price of 5.
You are encouraged to join the Nutrovape auto-ship program for a 10% discount on orders. This is where the company will send you a fresh pack every 15, 30, or 60 days, and charge your bank or credit card automatically. We do not advise this option as these types of agreements can be very hard to cancel.
If you are a smoker or an ex-smoker, Nutrovape Relax sounds convincing as a way of reducing anxiety by inhaling herbal supplements quickly into the bloodstream. After all, that is how many people feel about nicotine and although this is not strictly true as it is all about addiction, any smoker will tell you that a timely cigarette calms you down!
The evidence for Nutrovape Relax is not overwhelming. Two thirds of the ingredients of Nutrovape Relax are low on anything other than anecdotal evidence of their ability to deliver the advertised outcome. Chamomile is more promising and can definitely reduce anxiety owing to its active ingredient Apigenin, but there is not a lot of research into vaping it. Most evidence is based on taking supplements or drinking in tea. It might do something but nobody really knows for sure.
Overall, we think that Nutrovape Relax is a novelty and all a bit unproven, so we do not recommend Nutrovape Relax to the Watchdog readers.

Nutrovape Relax is an anxiety-reducing supplement that you inhale through Nutrovape’s e-cigarette vaping system. The ingredients are made into essential oils and heated in the e-cigarette to the correct temperature and then inhaled.
Each e-cigarette contains a blend of these oils extracted from valerian, passion flower, chamomile, and some natural and artificial flavourings. The company doesn’t give any details as to what these flavorings are. Glycerin is also present which is usually made from palm oil, and gives a sweet taste to the smoke. Reviewers have mentioned a vanilla flavor which most people seemed to enjoy.
As far as the ingredients go, there is no real evidence to support the use of passionflower as an anxiety reducer or a relaxant. There isn’t much scientific evidence to support valerian either, but anecdotal evidence from people who do use valerian as a sleep aid or stress reducer claim that it does help reduce anxiety.
Chamomile is the most likely active ingredient in the blend as it does contain a high proportion of Apigenin used to help with anxiety. In high doses, chamomile acts like a sedative and perhaps this explains why you shouldn’t inhale more than 20 times a day? Nutrovape are vague on the inhalation warning, and so we have to assume it is because it is possible to be too chilled?
Nutrovape are keen to mention the number of important things that their range of vaping supplements don’t contain. For example; Nutrovape Relax contains Zero Nicotine, Zero Tobacco, Zero Diacetyl, Zero Calories, and Zero Carbohydrates.
Unfortunately, there is near zero evidence that vaping is a good delivery method for the ingredients it does contain. Basically, if the vaping system is able to deliver the ingredients to the bloodstream (despite any real evidence of this) then the Chamomile might be useful. Of course, you could always simply drink a cup of chamomile tea!
There is a wide range of Nutrovape e-cigarette/vaping sticks designed for many different purposes.
We have covered some of these in previous reviews including Nutrovape Energy – a vaping stick to increase energy, and Nutrovape Diet, for weight loss. There is also Nutrovape Focus, for increased concentration, and Nutrovape Sleep.
The Nutrovape Relax advertising claims,
When you need to chill, try Nutrovape Relax. Our inhalable relaxation aid is a blend of Passion Flower Extract, Chamomile, and Valerian Root Extract that reduces stress and anxiety, naturally. Just take a few inhalations whenever you feel like pulling your hair out, but don’t exceed 20 inhalations in a single hour
It is not clear in the advertising why you shouldn’t have more than 20 inhalations in an hour.
The main focus of the Nutrovape advertising is the claim that vaping makes the ingredients of the supplement enter the blood stream faster. There is little scientific evidence to support this claim, so its appeal may be more for people who already smoke or vape.
The evidence for the ingredients efficiency is tainted by this, but if it does work some of the ingredients, especially chamomile extract may be of use in reducing anxiety.
The active ingredient in chamomile tea is Apigenin (a bioflavonoid compound) which although found in a wide variety of plants and herbs, is plentiful in chamomile tea. Apigenin causes anxiety-reducing effects by acting in a similar way to valium, however it is considered safe at doses of 3-10mg/kg bodyweight for short-term use. Apigenin is water-soluble, and chamomile tea is a great non-alcoholic source because alcohols like red wine and beer also have high levels of Apigenin.
Valerian was thought to have positive effects on sleep and was marketed as a natural sedative. It was originally thought that it was able to trigger a major sedative neurotransmitter, called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), to bring about its effects. Despite many people reporting that they had a better night’s sleep after supplementing valerian, scientific studies have found no quantifiable benefit to sleep and is considered to have a placebo effect. Placebo effect or not, valerian is a popular supplement widely taken as a sleep aid and anxiety reducer.
Passion flower is used for insomnia; gastrointestinal upset related to anxiety or nervousness and generalized anxiety disorders. Passion flower extract was taken off the market in 1978 because its safety, and effectiveness had not been proven.
Essentially if the vaping system is able to deliver the ingredients to the bloodstream (despite any real evidence of this), then the Chamomile might be the useful active ingredient.
Nutrovape Relax is a natural relaxant that can be used daily or whenever you need to calm down from anxiety. It is vaped via Nutrovape’s e-cigarette and can be taken daily or whenever needed. Nutrovape gives no amounts for the ingredients per e-cigarette.
Generally, the side effects of these ingredients are considered safe to use. However, it may cause drowsiness.
Caution:
Not suitable for individuals under 18. Avoid if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Speak to your doctor before use if you have any underlying medical conditions or are taking prescription medication.
When valerian is taken at high doses of 450mg three times a day there may be a recovery period next day. This is known as the ‘hangover’ effect but does not tend to occur if 450mg of the supplement taken before sleep. As there are no ingredient amounts in Nutrovape Relax, this is a caution.
There are quite a few reviews for Nutrovape Relax and as with other Nutrovape product reviews, most complaints come from the life expectancy of each vaping stick. In general, people who reviewed the effects of the reduction of anxiety were mixed.
Here is a selection of customer comments.
No burning! I really love this! I have only tried two non nicotine vape pens before but this is my favorite. It is very calming and it’s the same size as a cigarette which is nice! It does not burn my throat like the others! I would highly recommend this!
Perfect for stressful evenings! I am a former smoker. (Quit cold turkey over 8 years ago) Stressful situations and anxiety have been very difficult on me lately and the craving for that stress relieving cigarette was overwhelming. I looked into e cigarettes, but I didn’t want the nicotine. This Nutrovape inhaler is great! It gives me that calming sensation just like a cigarette would without the horrible effects. I’m a believer!
Love the way this tastes but….: I love the way this tastes but I really wish they lasted longer. It was dead after two days of use.
O.K.: I thought it was cool at first. However, I don’t really think it helped me feel less stressed. I liked the smell but the flavor wasn’t as strong. The vapor was nice. The design and packaging is wonderful too. I just don’t think it really personally helped mitigate the stress. One vape lasted me a week. I do like how it lights up, that part is cute. The hype about it was intense, but I didn’t feel as satisfied.
