Real NRG

People looking for a healthier and better tasting alternative to soda or coffee can put their money on Real NRG, which offers a great mix of amino acids, minerals, vitamins, and guarana. You can mix it with your favourite juice or add it to water to improve energy and alertness. It seems to be a better choice as compared to coffee or energy drinks because it provides you with energy without making you deal with the crash associated with those drinks.

Real NRG is supposed to be a healthier alternative to energy drinks because it contains natural ingredients. However, the thing is that it still contains caffeine, which comes from guarana extract. Therefore, the question is, ‘Should you really be opting for Real NRG in place of your regular cup of coffee?’ Is it really healthy? Here is our review to help you decide.

What You Need To Know About Real NRG

Real NRG is marketed as a great alternative to energy drinks because it is supposed to boost energy without making you experience a crash usually associated with energy drinks and even coffee. You can opt for it when you have late night projects or you want to power up your workout sessions. Not only does it boost energy, it also improves concentration and reduces mental fatigue. It includes some impressive ingredients, such as L-carnitine, L-tyrosine, guarana, and many other vitamins and minerals, but you need to bear in mind that it is not free of stimulants, which come from green tea and guarana.

What Are The Side Effects Of Real NRG?

Real NRG is a mix of natural ingredients and some vitamins and minerals, but it still contains caffeine obtained from guarana seed extract and green tea extract. Caffeine from guarana is more potent than what you get from coffee beans, so you are likely to experience some side effects, such as increased heartbeat, elevated blood pressure, sleeping difficulties, and irritability. Refer to our ‘Side Effects’ section for further details.

How Much Does Real NRG Cost?

You have to spend $33 to get a container of Real NRG.

Our Verdict On Real NRG

Real NRG is supposed to reduce mental fatigue, improve mood, and increase endurance level as well. Some ingredients are quite impressive, but even though they are less likely to work in Real NRG. L-taurine is a good example. It may help improve energy to some extent, but you do not get enough of it in each serving of Real NRG. It is quite the same with L-carnitine, which has some evidence to support its use but only when you take enough of it on a regular basis. Real NRG fails to provide enough. Other than these under-dosed ingredients, there are some vitamins and minerals that you can easily get from your regular multivitamin supplement. So, avoid wasting your money and stay away from Real NRG!

Real NRG Review

Real NRG claims to work better than energy drinks because it contains several natural ingredients that support energy production. While there certainly are some reasonably good ingredients found in Real NRG, it is still hard to say that it is any better than energy drinks and other caffeinated beverages. It still provides you with a good dose of caffeine that can cause certain problems.

First up, there is L-taurine in Real NRG. You can find it in many weight loss supplements and is basically used to improve muscle endurance. There is some evidence that taurine can improve energy and reduce mental fatigue, but not all studies confirm these benefits. For instance:

One study conducted with cyclists found that 1 gram of taurine taken 2 hours prior to exercise improved performance on a 3-kilometre time trial by 1.7%. Another study, however, found that 1,660 mg of taurine taken an hour before cycling failed to improve time trial performance.

Some animal studies have shown positive results, but even those studies have used up to 2,000 mg of taurine a day. There is only 400 mg of taurine in one serving of Real NRG, which means you are less likely to see any benefits. The same thing holds true for L-carnitine. There is not enough of it in Real NRG.

Here, it is important to mention that while L-carnitine may have some benefits, you do not really need to supplement with it. That is mainly because you can easily obtain this amino acid from meat, dairy, seafood, chicken, and other dietary sources. It means that anyone who is taking a balanced diet could care less about supplementing with L-carnitine. However, you may experience some benefits when you are deficient in it, but even in that case, you would have to take it in larger doses. Some studies have found that you should take no less than 1,000 mg of L-carnitine a day to see its positive effects, but Real NRG offers only 100 mg per serving.

Real NRG Facts

  • 60 servings per container
  • Natural ingredients

It is worth mentioning that there are some false claims associated with L-carnitine. For instance, it is supposed to help burn fat and reduce weight, but scientific studies have failed to find any such benefit. However, there may be some results limited to elderly population only. For instance:

A study conducted in 66 centarians (100 years or older) noted that L-Carnitine received 2 g of L-carnitine daily for 6 months. Improvements were noted in ratings of mental and physical fatigue, lean mass increased and fat mass decreased.

Similarly, it may help reduce fatigue only when you already have low muscular endurance or suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome. It is not that beneficial for an otherwise healthy adult. Moreover, supplementing with L-carnitine may not have any effect on power output. There may be a rather insignificant improvement in mean power output if you talk about short-term anaerobic endurance exercises. However, not all studies have noticed those benefits. For instance:

L-Carnitine at 1 g per day was given to healthy adults before exercise. Citric acid at 2,700 mg daily was found to attenuate the perception of fatigue whereas L-Carnitine did not.

Then, you find L-tyrosine in Real NRG. Some supplement manufacturers claim that L-tyrosine can help improve mood and lower mental fatigue. For instance:

Relative to placebo, 100 mg/kg L-Tyrosine was associated with significant improvements in mood, cognitive function, and side effects associated with acute stressors (cold and altitude) in military personnel. Heart rate and blood pressure were unaffected.

Even if L-tyrosine has some benefits, you are not going to get any from Real NRG because it only provides you with 400 mg per serving. Keep in mind that some studies suggest that supplementing with L-tyrosine is of no use even when you increase the dose. For instance:

2 g of tyrosine in a protein-rich drink (taken five times daily to total 10 g) was able to reduce blood pressure and preserve cognition (as measured by a matching assignment, where there was less of a decrease at post-test relative to pretest) during a week of combat training in cadets, relative to carbohydrate iso caloric placebo. There was no significant influence on mood state.

It shows that you should not use Real NRG with a hope to see some improvement in mood and mental fatigue because it contains L-tyrosine.

How to Take Real NRG

Here is what the official site says about taking Real NRG:

Dissolve one level 18 cc scoop (16.5 g) in eight ounces of water or juice as an energising supplement. Use as desired from one to three times per day. Do not consume more than four servings per day.

Real NRG also contains L-phenylalanine, but it fails to make Real NRG any better. L-phenylalanine works by increasing levels of tyrosine in the body. You do not really need it if you are already getting L-tyrosine from your diet. Moreover, you would have to take large doses of L-phenylalanine to experience some mood-enhancing benefit. For instance:

DLPA (or the D- or L- form alone) reduced depression in 31 of 40 people in a preliminary trial. Some doctors suggest a one-month trial with 3–4 grams per day of phenylalanine for people with depression, although some researchers have found that even very low amounts—75–200 mg per day—were helpful in preliminary trials. In one double-blind trial, depressed people given 150–200 mg of DLPA per day experienced results comparable to that produced by an antidepressant drug.

It means that you are going to experience results when you take up to 200 mg of phenylalanine, but there is only 150 mg of it available in each serving of Real NRG, which is why we believe you should avoid this supplement.

Real NRG Concerns:

  • Plenty of caffeine
  • Under-dosed ingredients
  • Lack of scientific evidence
  • Possible side effects
  • Quite expensive

It is also important to talk a bit about the caffeine content of Real NRG. Unfortunately, there is no information about how much of caffeine is available in each serving of Real NRG. However, there has to be a lot considering the fact that there is caffeine obtained from green tea extract and there is caffeine coming from guarana seed extract. Taking this much of caffeine may make you feel charged up for a short time but you will eventually experience a crash, which makes Real NRG no better than other energy drinks currently available in the market. Moreover, some studies have found that taking too much of caffeine can lead to tolerance and dependence. It means that you may not experience the same kick you experience today in a couple of weeks because your body develops a degree of tolerance to caffeine. Once it happens, you will also have a hard time eliminating it from your diet because doing so would lead to withdrawal effects.

Other than these ingredients, there are some vitamins and minerals available in Real NRG. The thing is that while vitamins and minerals are important, you can easily get them from dietary sources or buy multivitamin supplements. Also, keep in mind that supplementing with multivitamin may have its benefits only when you are already deficient in certain vitamins. People on a balanced diet should not waste money on multivitamin supplements, which is another reason why you are less likely to see any results from Real NRG.

The fact of the matter is that you should not take Real NRG only because it seems a better alternative to other caffeinated beverages. It contains caffeine and is still equally bad for your health. You will be better off going for a supplement that does not rely heavily on stimulants and improves energy and focus with the use of natural ingredients only. Real NRG is nothing special!

What Does Real NRG Claim To Do?

Real NRG is marketed as an alternative to energy drinks. You can take it with water or juices to enjoy some amazing benefits. Here are some of its claimed benefits:

  • It helps improve concentration and focus.
  • It helps keep you awake to complete difficult tasks.
  • It helps reduce mental fatigue.
  • It helps reduce depression symptoms.
  • It improves endurance and strength.

Does Real NRG Work?

Real NRG seems to be a better alternative to your caffeinated beverages, but unfortunately, it is nothing special. It includes caffeine and has other ingredients with little to no scientific evidence to support their use. L-carnitine, for instance, is under-dosed, and so is L-taurine. You do not get much of L-phenylalanine either. It includes vitamins and minerals but they are not going to work greatly to improve mental performance, especially if you are not already deficient in them. Overall, you will be better off looking for a nootropic supplement that includes natural ingredients to improve concentration, memory, and cognitive function.

What Are The Ingredients of Real NRG?

Real NRG contains a long list of ingredients. It is actually a combination of vitamins, minerals, and some natural ingredients. Here are some main ingredients found in it:

  • L-Carnitine: It is supposed to reduce mental fatigue and improve energy, but it seems that Real NRG does not have enough of it.
  • L-Taurine: It helps boost stamina to make it easier for you to complete your workout sessions, but again, there is not enough of it in Real NRG.
  • L-Tyrosine: Some studies have noticed its positive results, but you usually get enough from your diet.
  • L-Phenylalanine: It is supposed to work by increasing the levels of tyrosine in the body, but you may already have enough of tyrosine in your system and do not need phenylalanine.
  • Guarana Seed Extract & Green Tea Extract: Both of these ingredients add caffeine to the blend. It stimulates your nervous system and keeps you awake. It can cause several side effects though.

Does Real NRG Have Any Side Effects?

Real NRG contains natural ingredients, but you may still end up experiencing some side effects mainly because different people may react differently to those ingredients. It has caffeine, which comes from green tea extract and guarana seed extract. It can cause several side effects, including sleeping difficulties, jitteriness, elevated blood pressure, increased heart rate, and more.

There is L-carnitine included in the blend and customer reviews suggest that you may develop gastrointestinal symptoms after taking Real NRG. Some common issues are vomiting, stomach upset, abdominal cramps, loss of appetite, nausea, and diarrhoea. It can also cause problems related to the cardiovascular system, such as hypertension, chest pain, arrhythmia, palpitations, ECG irregularities, and vascular disorder. It may also affect your nervous system and lead to problems like seizures, insomnia, and paraesthesia. Eye drooping, rash, muscle weakness, depression, and dizziness are other common side effects.

Some people may experience overstimulation, restlessness, or anxiety after taking Real NRG, which is mainly because it contains L-tyrosine. It may also cause sleep disorders, heart palpitations, and rapid heartbeat. Vitamins in Real NRG may also be associated with certain side effects. Taking vitamin B6, which you are not already deficient in it may cause abdominal distress and lead to problems like loss of appetite, headache, sensitivity to light and abdominal pain. It is important to avoid Real NRG when you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Phenylketonurics – contains phenylalanine. Not intended for use by persons under 18. As with all dietary supplements, consult your doctor prior to taking if you are on any prescription medication, under a doctor’s care or have any disease or medical condition. Not for use by pregnant or lactating women, or by women attempting to become pregnant. Persons taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI’s) should only use this product under the supervision of a physician. Contains caffeine. This product is unsuitable for young children or those sensitive to caffeine. Excessive use of caffeine or L-Phenylalanine may cause irritability, nervousness, sleeplessness, or rapid heart beat – do not consume more than four servings per day. Allergy Information: This product contains soy-derived vitamin e, and is processed in the same facility that processes products containing fish/shellfish, soy and dairy.

Are There Any Customer Reviews For Real NRG?

Real NRG claims to help you in many ways, but there are not many positive customer reviews for it. Here are some examples:

I decided to take Real NRG in place of my regular energy drink, but I did not experience any real benefits. It was nothing great really.

I do not think Real NRG is a good alternative to your regular caffeinated beverages because it contains a good amount of caffeine as well. I have been a regular caffeine user, so I did not find Real NRG that stimulating either.
