Setting up a manufacturing plant for supplements is an expensive process, and so many smaller companies pay a factory to manufacture the product for them. Some manufacturers have a list of pre-made formulas for companies to buy, with the company only having to pick a name and their branding, leading to numerous clone products that all have identical ingredients. We have seen numerous ‘clone’ products before, and it appears that Synapsyl is yet another one!

Below we take an in-depth look at Synapsyl to see whether or not it can aid cognitive function, improve memory, and improve creative thinking.

Synapsyl Pros

  • 30-day money-back guarantee

Synapsyl Cons

  • Difficult to get a refund
  • Negative customer reviews
  • Incredibly expensive

What You Need To Know About Synapsyl

Synapsyl has an identical ingredients list to two other nootropic supplements called Neuro Enhance and Neuro Alert, which are both much cheaper than Synapsyl. The online marketing practices that the sellers of Synapsyl use are suspicious at best. We found numerous websites endorsing the product, but the majority of them appear to have affiliate links to the official website, showing that they are paid for every sale that they get for the company. Actual independent customer reviews of the supplement and its seller are overwhelmingly negative, especially regarding the company’s conduct as a business, and their terrible customer service.

What Are The Side Effects Of Synapsyl?

There are numerous ingredients found in Synapsyl that could cause side effects. Potential side effects include an upset stomach, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, headaches, and changes in blood pressure. More detailed information about the side effects that could develop is provided below in the side effects section.

How Much Does Synapsyl Cost?

Synapsyl is incredibly expensive! From the official website, a single bottle costs $44 plus shipping charges, whilst the seller has sold the product on amazon for as much as $79.99 per bottle! Each bottle contains 60 capsules, which should last for 30 days of use if used as recommended. By comparison, Neuro Enhance, which has an identical ingredients list (with identical ingredient quantities) to Synapsyl, costs only $18.99 plus shipping per bottle.

Our Verdict On Synapsyl

Overall, we are not impressed by Synapsyl at all. The product is identical to two other supplements that we have previously reviewed, but is much more expensive! Their money-back guarantee seems almost impossible to obtain as the product needs to arrive back at the warehouse within the 30 day period, which starts from the day of purchase. We have also found reports of the product taking two or more weeks to arrive, making the likelihood of getting a refund even slimmer.

The professionalism of the company that distributes Synapsyl is questionable- they also promote a non-existent product called Intellux, and when consumers click on the buy button, they are diverted to the Synapsyl website. The company also make dramatic and dubious claims about the potency of the product, calling it ‘viagra for the brain’, and comparing it to the pill from the film Limitless.

As for the product itself, there are some ingredients present in Synapsyl that have promising clinical support to suggest that they could help to boost cognitive function, memory and focus. However, there are also some ingredients that have no clinical support at all, or only have clinical support from preliminary trials or those associated with Dementia and Alzheimer’s patients. Just because an ingredient helps to treat an Alzheimer’s patient, does not mean that it will benefit a healthy consumer.

Overall, we do not recommend Synapsyl to our readers. If anyone is impressed by the ingredients used in Synapsyl, and wants to try the product, we recommend looking instead at Neuro Enhance and Neuro Alert, which both feature the exact same formulation (even down to the ingredient quantities), but at a much cheaper price.

Synapsyl Review

Synapsyl is promoted as a nootropic supplement, being described as “viagra for the brain”. Its supposed benefits include ‘sky-rocket concentration’, ‘improve creative thinking’, ‘boost energy’ and ‘enhance memory recall’. One of the several promotional websites also suggests that it can aid with ‘anxiety management’. The amazon sales page for the product describes it as a ‘Limitless Pill Brain Booster’, referring to the film Limitless which features a miracle nootropic drug that increases the consumer’s intelligence to an impossible degree, but has awful side effects, usually ending in death- this is obviously not a good thing to compare a supplement to!

Synapsyl Facts

  • Owned by Anthea Limited.
  • 60 capsules per bottle.
  • Identical to Neuro Alert and Neuro Enhance.

There is very little information available about who owns Synapsyl. It appears to be owned by a company called Anthea Limited, whose headquarters are based in Gibraltar. Synapsyl is manufactured at a factory in the USA.

How to Take Synapsyl

As a dietary supplement, take one capsule twice daily with meals.

When we first sat down to write this review, it was going to be about a nootropic called Intellux. Our research suggests that Intellux just does not actually exist, as every link from the Intellux Brain home page leads to sales pages for Synapsyl. It could be that Intellux is an old name or branding for Synapsyl, and that the manufacturers have just not bothered to update some of their original promotional websites. Needless to say, this should throw up red flags about the professionalism of the manufacturing company!

Synapsyl Concerns:

  • Difficult to obtain a refund due to time constraints
  • Negative customer reviews
  • Incredibly expensive, especially compared to identical products

Synapsyl has an identical ingredients list to two other supplements that we have previously reviewed, Neuro Enhance and Neuro Alert. Setting up a manufacturing plant is an expensive process, and so a common practice is for companies to rent a manufacturing plant, or to hire another company to manufacture their supplement for them. Sometimes a manufacturing company will have a menu of pre-set formulas, which they sell onto other companies, letting them choose their own branding- this practice means that sometimes (such as in this case), there are several companies selling an identical supplement, sometimes at hugely different prices. This highlights the importance of shopping around for the best nootropic supplement for the individual!

What Does Claim To Do?

The manufacturers of Synapsyl claim that the supplement benefits the consumer in the following ways:

  • Sky-rocket concentration
  • Improve creative thinking
  • Boost energy levels
  • Enhance memory recall

They also suggest (but do not expressly claim or state) that Synapsyl could assist with learning speed and anxiety management.

Does Synapsyl Work?

There are numerous ingredients used in Synapsyl that should help to boost the consumer’s cognitive function, including BacopaMonnieri, Vinpocetine and Phosphatidylserine. There are also ingredients that could reduce fatigue and improve mood in general.

The majority of the available customer reviews are negative, with many people feeling that the product is ineffective and that they have been scammed by the manufacturing company.

Some of the ingredients could potentially become less effective over continued use, but others, especially BacopaMonnieri need to be used for a prolonged period for the effects to build up.

Overall, we believe that Synapsyl could potentially aid cognitive function if the ingredients are used in therapeutic doses. However, as the individual ingredient quantities are not provided, it is difficult to establish this for certain.

What Are The Ingredients of Synapsyl?

The ingredients used in Synapsyl are detailed below. The product contains a proprietary formula, and so not all of the individual ingredient quantities are listed. Each serving of one capsule contains 50 mg of Ginkgo Biloba, as well as 727 mg of the proprietary formula. Consumers are instructed to take two capsules per day.

  • Gingoxine (Ginkgo Biloba) (24% Extract) 50 mg: Appears to improve circulation, and may help to kill bacteria in the body that could cause infections, although it is used as an herbal remedy to treat a range of ailments.

Proprietary Formula 727 mg

  • St. John’s Wort (0.3% Extract): Used herbally to reduce anxiety, treat the symptoms of mild depression, and improve mood in general.
  • Glutamine (as L-Glutamine Hydrochloride): An essential amino acid, which is a building block of protein (muscle).
  • Phosphatidylserine Complex: Several studies with phosphatidylserine indicate improved cognitive abilities and behaviours, but the studies focused on Alzheimer’s patients; it is possible that these effects could also benefit consumers in general, but there is no real clinical support to support this. The FDA has stated that Phosphatidylserine may reduce the risk of cognitive dysfunction and dementia in the elderly.
  • BacopaMonnieri (20% Bacosides): Used to reduce anxiety, improve memory, and seems to have a minor ability to treat depression, making it a general mild mood booster. Doses are typically larger than used in this diet pill, and effects can take time to achieve a noticeable level, as the effects appear to accumulate with repeated use.
  • DimethylaminoethanolBitartrate (DMAE Bitartrate): This ingredient is marketed as a memory and mood enhancer. There is currently little clinical evidence to support this.
  • Acetyl-L Carnitine: There is some evidence that supplementation of acetyl-l-carnitine can reduce body fat, although the strongest results were seen in the elderly. The ingredient also boosts energy levels, and is used to treat fatigue.
  • Vinpocetine: Because it is an entirely synthetic chemical, that requires significant lab-work to produce, there is some debate as to whether this ingredient actually qualifies as a supplement under US and FDA guidelines. Vinpocetine may increase blood flow to the brain, and so may help to treat fatigue and improve memory; despite claims about research being extensive, most research is outdated and uses biased research methods.

Does Synapsyl Have Any Side Effects?

There are numerous ingredients present in Synapsyl that could cause a range of side effects.

L-Carnitine can cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, heartburn, diarrhoea, and seizures. It can also cause the urine, breath, and sweat to have a “fishy” odour.
Studies have shown that Bacopa leaf causes upset stomachs in participants much more than placebos. This has led to the recommendation that this ingredient be taken with a meal, rather than on an empty stomach, as this will minimise the chances of getting an upset stomach. It may also may cause nausea, cramping, bloating, and diarrhoea.

DMAE can cause constipation, itching, headache, drowsiness, insomnia, excitation, vivid dreams, confusion, depression, increased blood pressure, an increase in schizophrenia symptoms, and unwanted movements of the face and mouth.
Vinpocetine can cause some side effects including stomach pain, nausea, sleep disturbances, headache, dizziness, nervousness, and flushing of the face.

Side effects of Phosphatidylserine can include insomnia and stomach upset, particularly at doses over 300 mg. It can be made from either plant or animal sources, and so may not be suitable for vegetarians.

Not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Not suitable for anyone under the age of 18. Not suitable for anyone who is taking any medications, whether prescription or over the counter. Avoid use in couples who are trying to conceive, based on theoretical reduction of fertility. Individuals taking MAO Inhibiting Drugs, or with a known medical condition should consult a physician before using this or any dietary supplement. St. John’s Wort may contribute to photosensitivity resulting in skin irritation and redness in persons exposed to strong sunlight or tanning booths. Avoid in patients at risk of bleeding, taking anticoagulants, or with clotting disorders, based on case reports of bleeding. Discontinue use 2-3 weeks prior to some surgical and dental procedures due to increased risk of bleeding. Use cautiously in patients with history of seizure, based on reports of seizure due to Ginkgo seed ingestion.

If you are unsure about the suitability of this nootropic supplement, or any other supplement, consult your doctor before purchase.

Are There Any Customer Reviews For Synapsyl?

We were able to find numerous customer reviews for this supplement online. Many of the reviews that we located complained about the cost, the distributing company, and terrible customer service, and many reviews were negative about the product and its effects as well.

Been waiting for my package but when I received it, its opened and empty.

Very expensive for the noticeable beneficial effect. I take 2 per day as directedand am on my 2nd bottle.
If you look at the ingredients, you could probably this stuff in bulk and make your own “synapsyl” caps for
a LOT less money.

I ordered this online. They gave a tracking number which is not the tracking number to trace the shipment via post. I sent them emails, but no response. Now, I am clueless on where to get my items. Hoax. They keep saying it arrived in the country of destination, but you can’t even track it since they gave the incorrect tracking number for post. No additional info is stated. I called the post office they said that the tracking number provided is incorrect. Now, we don’t know on what part of the country my shipment is.

I ordered the product online and received it a month or so later. When I started using the product I experienced an increase in memory recall, and could think clearer. It removed fogginess in my brain and my concentration levels rose tremendously. I use to be able to concentrate for about 2-3 hours straight but now it feels like I am fully concentrated throughout the day. I am not making this up. Even after a long hard day’s work I can still carry on during the evening and night time. It is a genuine product and it does work. Maybe not for everyone but for me it does work. I agree that the product support is crappy and that they can or should improve on that as well as to try and make the delivery time less, but that alone does not say that the product is bad. I’ll be ordering my next batch when I’m at my second last bottle.

Please don’t buy this product. It is obvious to me it is a scam now and that I have wasted my money on it. I am epileptic and they ignored my request to cancel my order unless they could prove it was safe to take in conjunction with seizure medication. They neither confirmed it was safe nor canceled my order but shipped it 3 days later. I am disgusted by rip off merchants such as these.

I have being waiting for two months now to get my shipment. The support center offers no help. The tracking number they supply is not even real, no way of tracking the goods.Be careful, what they promise they do not deliver.I have requested my money back, but doubt I will get a cent back

This is a scam, it doesn’t work. They don’t entertain email correspondences, but instead keep saying in their email (if you do write to them) to call their hotline, which nobody picks up, thus causing you to burn a bigger hole in your pocket with overseas charges. Their 30-day money back guarantee starts from the day you place the order, which takes two weeks to arrive, so you only have two weeks to sample it. Most 30-day money guarantee works from the day the item is received by you. I tried returning the item within the 30 days from receiving it, through email, but was told in a reply that I have exceed the 30-day guarantee period, and was again asked to call in, and was put on hold. This is a scam, so beware.

Ordered online. Webpage is nontransparent and loaded with claim offer pop-up windows. The final price and quantity you see, when it is already too late. I ordered only one bottle, but when I received the email confirmation the quantity was 5! It’s not possible to get through the customer hotline. Tried it with the UK number and US number. After 10 minutes in the queue, the call gets disconnected. They state that the “System unavailable due to maintenance or upgrade”.

Does Synapsyl Offer a Money-Back Guarantee?

The manufacturers of Synapsylclaim that they do offer a money back guarantee, but by reading their terms and conditions, and customer complaints, it is obvious that this is not actually the case! The “30 day money back guarantee” begins on the date of purchase and the product needs to arrive back at the company’s returns center before the end of the 30 day period. With customers waiting anywhere between 2 weeks and 2 months (or even more) to receive their delivery, it is difficult, if not impossible, to get a refund.

In order to obtain your full refund, contact customer service by phone and obtain an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number to place on your package. Write this number on the outside of the shipping package, and send the product back to our fulfillment center at the address listed below, within thirty (30) days of the date you originally ordered the product. In order for your full refund to be processed the product must arrive at our fulfillment facility within thirty (30) days of the original purchase date. You pay for return shipping. Once our fulfillment center has received the package and relayed the correct information to us, you will be issued a refund. Your refund will be credited back to your credit card/bank account, and may take up to 3-5 business days to show in your statement, depending on the speed of the processing bank.

Where Can I Buy Synapsyl?

Synapsyl can be purchased from the Synapsyl website or from amazon.

From amazon, a single bottle costs between $62.94 and $79.99, with free shipping. There are cheaper bottles available, but the high shipping charges actually make them more expensive overall. The prices on amazon appear to change regularly as there are numerous sellers of this product operating through amazon, who are constantly changing their prices to compete with each other.

The official Synapsyl website has several offers available; a single bottle of Synapsyl costs $44.00, plus $9.95 flat rate shipping. A three month supply (3 bottles) costs $87.00, with free shipping. Finally, a five month supply (5 bottles) costs $95.00, again with free shipping.
